Welcome,
Imagine
a school landscape where effective academic
richness and varied and engaging co-curricular
programs are teamed with character
development as
a normal and natural part of educating the whole
child. Documents
written by our nation’s founding fathers emphasized
character development and individual responsibility among
its citizens to govern our new country. Almost
240 years later, no parent or school
should have to choose between academics and these two goals
for current and future citizens and leaders
of our country.
Qualities
of character such as kindness, respect, responsibility, and honesty
are critical to
our individual well-being as a culture
and thus are foundational to learning. At
FRCDS, academic
excellence is the natural outcome
of character development.
The
diversity of our population is exciting; it is an
important part of global and multicultural education
in a homelike
environment such as ours where students create lasting friendships and create extended families. They understand what it is to be tolerant and unselfish. One
quarter of our families are from varying cultures
and countries. This
provides a platform of acceptance that encourages
focus on the individual expression of each child’s
special qualities.
Our values-based
curriculum supports diversity in
all areas of cultural, social, and academic learning. Our students are well-rounded, capable students that become conscious, global thinkers and who have a desire to improve humanity's circumstances, serve in the community, and demonstrate respect for the environment. In fact, Fox River Country Day School has been recognized as a 2011 State School of Character by the Character Education Partnership.
Parents
report on national surveys that they want a strong
but broad academic curriculum balanced with a solid
co-curricular program where teachers know and challenge each
child
in small classes.
Parents want teachers who show an interest
in each child and effectively and regularly communicate
with parents. They
expect a positive and inclusive sense of community
in which they are involved as partners in their
child’s education. At
FRCDS, our families experience all of this and more.
Our
website will give you a sense of all of these important
features and what we have to offer, but no virtual
tour can take the place of a personal visit where
you will experience our program first-hand. We
welcome you to a most remarkable place. Come
hear our story.
Kindest
regards,
Karen
